Anaheim, Calif. — St. Paul, Minn.-based 3M Co.'s healthcare segment won a 2019 materials and assembly Golden Mousetrap Award for its 4077 elastic polyurethane-blend nonwoven extended-wear medical tape.
In the 2018 competition, the extended-wear-portfolio's 4076 tape from the segment's medical solutions division won another Golden Mousetrap Award.
This year's winning tape — 4077 — has a white elastic nonwoven backing, a tackified acrylic-based adhesive suitable for skin contact and a liner of 60-pound bleached poly-coated kraft paper with a silicone release on one side.
The breathable and conformable tape can stretch omni-directionally and is designed for long-term wear applications with medical devices.
Products in the portfolio reduce the number of times a wearer needs to change the tape.
UBM plc's Design News of Burlington, Mass., and the UBM Americas-organized Feb. 5-7 Design & Manufacturing exhibition in Anaheim presented the 2019 Golden Mousetraps.
