PolySource tops Best Places to Work

Naples, Fla. — PolySource has returned to the top of Plastics News' Best Places to Work list.

The Independence, Mo.-based resin distributor was No. 1 in the Best Places to Work awards presented March 5 at the Plastics News Executive Forum in Naples.

PolySource was also No. 1 in 2017. It pays 100 percent of premiums for medical, vision and dental coverage for its 19 employees and contributes $500 per year, per employee, to charitable organizations of the employee's choice.

In addition, employees are encouraged to use the company home in Orlando, Fla., with their families.

For 2019, 15 companies have been named a Best Place to Work. Full profiles of all 15 companies will be featured in the March 25 issue of Plastics News.

Other companies honored, in descending order were:

• KI Industries Inc. of Berkley, Ill., a supplier of decorative plastic and die-cast components with 65 employees in its Chicago-area headquarters.

• M. Holland Co. of Northbrook, Ill., a resin distributor with more than 300 employees.

• US Extruders, a 20-employee company in Westerly, R.I., making custom single-screw extruders.

• ePlastics of San Diego, a distributor and custom fabricator of shaped plastics which has 52 employees.

• MTD Micro Molding of Charlton, Mass., has 37 employees and is an injection molder and mold maker specializing in small parts and tools.

• Asaclean-Sun Plastech Inc. has 27 employees and sells purging compounds in more than 70 countries, with offices in Parsippany, N.J.

• Dymotek Corp., a 92-employee injection molder in Ellington, Conn.

• West Michigan Compounding of Greenville, Mich., is a plastics recycler with 78 employees.

• Techmer PM is a materials firm with 651 employees in Clinton, Tenn.

• Plastic Components Inc. of Germantown, Wis., has 82 employees and is an injection molder.

• Alliance Laser Sales Inc. has 26 employees in Wauconda, Ill., supplying services to the plastics industry.

• Team 1 Plastics of Albion, Mich., has 64 employees and is an injection molder.

• Currier Plastics Inc. is an injection molder and blow molder with 155 employees in Auburn, N.Y.

• CMD Corp. of Appleton, Wis., has 163 employees and is a maker of converting equipment.

To qualify as a Best Place to Work, companies must have a facility in the United States or Canada, be a publicly or privately held business, have a minimum of 15 full-time or part-time permanent employees, be in business for at least one year and derive at least 50 percent of their sales from plastics-related operations.

Employees complete a survey of in-depth questions on a scale from "Disagree Strongly" to "Agree Strongly." The questionnaire also includes seven demographic and two open-ended questions. The employer surveys account for 25 percent of the grading, and employee feedback counts for 75 percent.

Best Companies Group of Harrisburg, Pa., an independent research firm that specializes in identifying great places to work, conducts the surveys, analyzes the data and manages the process, while Plastics News publishes the winners.
