Cincinnati-based BTG Labs has introduced an entry-level handheld device for measuring flexible film, the Surface Analyst 2001.
In two seconds, the SA 2001 inspects the surface quality of a film and determines if it has been properly prepared for adhesion processes such as lamination or printing. These measurements can made to verify the quality of incoming material from suppliers, following film surface treatment or onside following customer complaints about adhesion problems.
Unlike time-consuming, and subjectively interpreted dyne solution readings, the results are immediately available as an objective number, BTG Labs said.
Primarily designed as a handheld device, the SA 2001 also is available in a package with an inspection station for film surface analysis testing. That includes a fixture into which the user slides a piece of film, using the unit in a fix position to inspect the surface.
