At Automate 2019, Universal Robots, the maker of collaborative robots that work side-by-side with employees, will show new co-bot applications for machine tending, packaging, assembly and processing.
“We chose to focus on these applications as they are currently experience a significant demand for cobot automation,” said Stuart Shepherd, sales director of Universal Robotics' Americas region. “These are also tasks where our cobots consistently deliver ROI of less than a year, often paying themselves back in a few months, as cobots typically deploy up to 50 percent faster than traditional automation.”
The Automate show is the U.S. launchpad for several new products under the company's UR+ products, a platform that connects UR cobot users to partners that provide UR-certified, ready-to-use accessories such as grippers, vision systems and software. Debuting in the packaging area are Dorner's 2200 series conveyor and SKF Motion Technologies' LIFTKIT.
Universal Robots, based in Odense, Denmark, is part of Teradyne Inc. of North Reading, Mass.
Universal Robots generated sales of $234 million in 2018.
