Clearly Clean Products LLC, a maker of PET food trays, is expanding its thermoforming operations in the United States with the purchase and renovation of an 80,000-square-foot facility in Frackville, Pa.
The facility will be used to manufacture and store the company's patented recyclable, smooth-edge overwrap trays, vacuum-sealed packaging trays and modified atmosphere packaging trays used for meat, poultry, seafood, produce and deli.
The project marks a $10 million investment by the company and is expected to create up to 125 jobs over the next three years, according to a March 28 news release from the office of Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf.
Clearly Clean received a funding proposal from the Department of Community and Economic Development for a $350,000 Pennsylvania First grant and a $252,000 grant contingent on job creation, according to the release.
The company said it also plans to build a 45,000-square-foot production and engineering facility next to another facility it occupies in Orwigsburg, Pa.
"Clearly Clean needed a large facility that would accommodate our additional assets and personnel," Jeff Maguire, a managing partner at the company, said in a statement. "We decided on Frackville so that we were in the vicinity of our Orwigsburg, Pa., plant yet able to recruit from a broader geographic region."
In addition to the Frackville plant, the company has four facilities in Orwigsburg and a location in Naples, Fla. Headquarters for the company, founded in 2008, is in South Windsor, Conn.
