Mexichem Specialty Compounds has installed a new production line at its facility in Melton Mowbray, England.
The U.S.-based compounder, with headquarters in Leominster, Mass., operates United Kingdom sites at Melton Mowbray and also Chinley.
The additional volume will support global demand for the Megolon range of low-smoke, halogen-free thermoplastic compounds.
According to the company, the market pull has been created by wire and cable manufacturers responding to construction regulations requirements.
The new line will increase nnual production capacity by 10,000 metric tons, effectively doubling current output of specialty materials, including the Megolon range.
"Investing in the ability to rapidly service our customers' requirements is at the forefront of this initiative," said Daniel J. DeLisle, general manager of MSC. "While global standards continue to evolve, and while technology continues to advance, our reaction time to the pace of business is critical to partnering with our customers and meeting their needs."
MSC was formed in 2011 when Mexichem purchased AlphaGary Corporation and Bayshore Vinyl Compounds. Vinyl Compounds UK joined the group in 2016, while Sylvin Technologies (US) became part of the company in 2018.
In addition to the two sites in the U.S. and the two in the UK, MSC is currently constructing a new production facility in India.
