Italian machinery maker Sacmi Imola S.C. is now a partner of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, under an agreement signed by Sacmi President Paolo Mongardi and Karl Koster, executive director of MIT corporate relations.
Sacmi became a member of MIT's Industrial Liaison Program on March 1.
Sacmi will have access to a series of MIT programs and services concerning applied research. Guided by MIT-designated program director Kenneth Goldman, Sacmi will be able to spell out its needs and areas of interest in emerging technologies and compare information with internationally known scientists working with MIT.
Membership also allows Sacmi personnel to take part in conferences and workshops. An annual meeting will be held at MIT to focus on strategic planning. The machinery manufacturer also will be able to involve MIT students and researchers in targeted projects during a period of work at Sacmi.
