North American prices for polycarbonate and nylon 6 resins have declined since Jan. 1.
PC selling prices in the region are down an average of 10 cents per pound, while prices for nylon 6 are down an average of 8 cents per pound, according to market sources contacted by Plastics News.
Although demand for both PC and nylon 6 remains solid in North America, sources said lower demand in other parts of the world have led to an increase in resins available to North American buyers.
Automotive remains a large market for both PC and nylon 6. Demand is solid in that market, sources added, but is leveling off somewhat compared to the growth seen in previous years.
