Auto supplier Valeo North America Inc. is permanently laying off 104 employees from and ending activity at its East Liberty, Ohio facility.
Valeo's customer "decided to integrate this activity back" into its own plant, a spokesperson told Plastics News in an emailed statement.
"We've worked closely with employees to make sure they were aware of the changes coming and assisted them to find new opportunities," the statement said.
"Valeo is very well positioned at the heart of" the mobility transformation taking place in the automotive industry, it said. The transition "will support [Valeo's] growth and open up new job opportunities for [its] employees."
The layoffs are expected to begin Oct. 10 and continue through Oct 24. No union represents the affected employees and they do not have bumping rights.
Valeo is a supplier of lighting, front-end modules, safety systems, cameras and sensors for safety and autonomous driving operations.
