Team 1 Plastics Inc. places a great emphasis on team member satisfaction.
The Albion, Mich.-based injection molder seeks to "foster an atmosphere where people enjoy coming to work and get along with people, and a toxic person would find the environment uncomfortable." From the entry-level positions to the owners, the company ensures everyone on staff feels valued and has the freedom to succeed.
"Some of the comments we received from our team this year were: family atmosphere, opportunity for advancement, relaxed environment, no micromanagement, great team members, owners and managers care about the team, design of shift schedules, freedom to be yourself and flex time," the company said in its Best Places to Work submission.
After receiving its Best Places to Work survey results, Team 1 Plastics plans to share the top five and bottom five rated questions with the team and pick detailed feedback on open-ended questions and create improvement tasks, if reasonable. The most recent change the company incorporated was adding a fifth week to its paid time off policy for hourly and salary staff instead of its previous four-week annual accrual maximum. Employees also receive eight paid holidays per year.
Team 1 Plastics President Craig Carrel, who has been with the company for 36 years, highlights the company's core values with all new hires during orientation breakfasts and onboarding/training.
"We demonstrate them by doing customer satisfaction surveys, offering training and promotions, and being a positive community member through our donations team," Team 1 said.
