Four plastics-related firms have been named among Northeast Ohio's top workplaces for 2022 by the Cleveland Plain Dealer newspaper.
Avient Corp., Eaton Corp., Vitamix Corp. and Mum Industries all were recognized by the paper in its June 26 edition. Avient, Eaton and Vitamix made the cut for employers with more than 500 local employees. Avient of Avon Lake was No. 9 on that list, with Eaton of Cleveland was at 17 and Vitamix of Olmsted Township at 25.
Mum Industries of Mentor was at 113 in the small business category with less than 150 local employees. Mum's Integra Enclosures unit makes enclosures from both polycarbonate and metal. The firm has 66 local employees.
Avient ranks as one of North America's largest compounders, concentrate makers and resin distributors, employing almost 700 in Northeast Ohio. Vitamix makes blenders and kitchen appliances and employs almost 750 in the region.
Manufacturing firm Eaton has done plastics processing work over the years. In January, Eaton bought injection molder Royal Power Solutions of Carol Stream, Ill., for $600 million. The firm employs almost 1,000 in Northeast Ohio.
The ranking mainly was based on employee surveys conducted for the Plain Dealer by consulting firm Energage of Exton, Pa.
