It's the end of the ranking season. Rejoice!

This week we publish our final issue of the year, the annual Market Data Book.

The issue is the top 100 from each ranking we do throughout the year, complete with related updates since thier publication dates. This year we've switched up our listings to move most of the company directories to our website.

Addresses and top officials can change over the course of 12 months and we continually update these on online at www.plasticsnews.com/rankings. Not wanting to leave out any company names, we've included all the processors in the master index at the back of the issue with a key code to indicate in which ranking they appear.

As part of this I took a deep dive into our database to grab some fun totals for this final blog of the year, hey, I can have a vacation too. My editor even said so.

Our six processor rankings combined to make 1,420 companies reporting $130 billion in related North American sales. In all we had listings for 1,748 companies including mold makers and recyclers and brokers.

Film & Sheet manufacturers top the average sales per company at $215.7 million dollars.

Ohio, Michigan, California, Wisconsin, Illinois and Texas are the top states for plant locations.

I also want to give a grateful shout-out to my colleagues at Plastics News, both past and present. Without their ranking development foundation and inexhaustible mentoring, our editorial team could not have produced this legacy of processor data, a singular body of work unparalleled in the industry.

2019 was a great year for our 30th anniversary. As the year closes and we leave the ranking season and head into the holiday season, we wish you the happiest of New Year's.
