It must be fall because we are publishing our North American mold makers ranking this week. (What, do you mean you don't track the seasons by which ranking Plastics News has on tap?)
In this week's issue, the top 100 are featured, with the full list of 139 online, totaling $2.8 billion in related sales. That's up 7 percent over last year's report.
For each of our rankings we mail out survey forms. Some return those paper forms, and some email their responses. I like to think of these companies as our volunteers. Combining their results with public documents like annual reports, we got a feel for the 2018 market.
On average, those that had growth went up 8 percent. There was a downward trend for those whose business is exclusive to injection molds. More than half reported a change in sales over the previous year, up or down. Leaving 43 percent with flat sales.
