Star Thermoplastics Alloys & Rubbers has launched its StarBond XL-brand line of specialty materials.
In a news release, officials with Star in Broadview, Ill., said that the new materials offer "outstanding bond strength" for a variety of engineering resins, including polycarbonate, ABS and PC/ABS alloys. Potential markets for StarBond XL include consumer, medical, sporting goods and transportation.
The new products come in natural and black colors and are available both in filled and unfilled forms. Officials added that the new grades offer superior tensile properties, elongation and tear properties compared to several leading competitors.
Owner and CEO Tom Dieschbourg said in the release that the new materials "are just the beginning" of new innovations that Star is working on at its R&D center in Broadview.
Star employs around 70. The 27-year-old firm makes compounds based on several types of thermoplastic elastomers for automotive, medical and other markets.
