It's a Sweet 16 for Milliken & Co.
The Spartanburg, S.C.-based firm has been named to Ethisphere's World's Most Ethical Companies list for the 16th consecutive year. Ethisphere of Scotsdale, Ariz., is a global leader in defining and advancing the standards of ethical business practices.
Milliken has more than 60 locations and about 8,000 employees worldwide. The firm is one of six companies to receive the ethics-based honor every year since its inception.
The Ethisphere program "is a key benchmark for the way we do business," Milliken President and CEO Halsey Cook- said in a news release.
"Receiving this recognition for 16 straight years underscores the culture and commitment of Milliken team members globally. It's who we are."
In 2022, 136 honorees were recognized on the Ethisphere list. That group covers 22 countries and 45 industries. Milliken is one of seven industrial manufacturers on the list.
The Ethisphere process includes more than 200 questions on culture, environmental and social practices, ethics and compliance activities, governance, diversity, and initiatives to support a strong value chain. Officials said the process serves as an operating framework to capture and codify the leading practices of organizations across industries and around the globe.
Ethisphere officials said that Milliken's long run on the list "illustrates its commitment to sustainability, recognizing that ethics anchors the company's long-term success for all stakeholders."
"We commend the entire Milliken team for this truly significant achievement and their commitment to driving positive, lasting change by intentionally creating a culture of ethics and purpose," Ethisphere CEO Timothy Erblich added.
Milliken is one of the world's largest privately held chemicals and textiles makers. Plastics-related products made by the firm include polymer additives, such as clarifying agents for polypropylene.
