On Feb. 3, a Norfolk Southern train carrying plastics feedstock vinyl chloride monomer derailed in East Palestine, Ohio. Residents in the area were advised to evacuate as officials conducted a controlled burn and draining of the hazardous materials in part of the cleanup efforts. Frank Esposito has all the details.
The American Chemistry Council announced that a new, industry-favored, legislation could be coming to Congress very soon. The bill would be an alternative framework to the Break Free From Plastic Pollution Act, which was first introduced in 2020.
