A company marking its 60th anniversary is a big milestone. Having the same employee — other than the owner, of course — with the same company for 60 years really stands out.
Doug Mosher, chief engineer for Ansonia, Conn.-based machinery supplier Farrel Pomini, joined what was then Farrel Corp. fresh out of college in 1964. He was hired for the company's "engineer in training" program, which offered a one-year rotation through different company divisions. Once that was done, he became an engineer for the Banbury Mixer, an early version of the Farrel continuous mixer used in both rubber processing and plastics compounding, Farrel Pomini said in a news release.
Starting in 1997, he was was named engineering manager for continuous mixers, extruders and underwater pelletizers. He even met his wife, Janet, at Farrel in 1966, where she was a typist in the order entry department. He's officially semi-retired now.
"Doug is nothing less than a true legend," Farrel Pomini President Paul Lloyd said in a statement on the company's LinkedIn page. "Sixty years of service is a never-to-be repeated achievement, but it's not the whole story.
"Doug's professionalism and engineering knowledge, which were applied every day, are as much a feature of Doug's career as its longevity," Lloyd said.
