China's Haitian International Holdings may be getting ready to unveil a new injection molding machine that will be among the world's largest.
The company recently gave a sneak peek of the two-platen Jupiter-series press with 88,000 kN of clamping force — yep, that's 8,800 tons.
The press isn't in production yet. The occasion for the announcement was the machine acceptance by the customer at the Haitian plant in Ningbo, China.
French molder Belli SAS is the customer for the unusual large-scale machine. The company makes plastic articles for home and garden, leisure, and the environment.
Belli Managing Director Eric Chanal said, "I wanted to have no limits on the injection volume and told myself I would take the largest machine in the world so that I could produce very, very large parts."
The company wants to mold extremely large water tanks and rainwater storage tanks to support customers in regions of Europe that receive little rainfall.
Expect to hear more about this monster press when it's delivered and in production.
Meanwhile, this is an opportunity to once again share our list of the largest injection presses in the world. Not included on that list is the 8,000-ton Milacron press that was recently installed at 20/20 Custom Molded Plastics LLC in Holiday City, Ohio.
With the new Milacron and Haitian presses, it looks like it's time for us to compile an updated list. Readers, if you know of any others, or you have updated information whether these are still in production, please share!
