If you're a fan of the Super Bowl and toys and sustainability, then Mattel Inc. has got just the deal for you.
The toymaker is offering up commemorative versions of its Barbie doll, Little People figurines and Uno card game for fans of the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs, who face off at the Super Bowl on Feb. 9.
The Barbie dolls wear sweatshirts, shorts and hats backing either the Chiefs or the Eagles. Each Little People collection features the likeness of four players on each team in packaging declaring them to be Super Bowl champions.
But you only get the toys — and only have to pay — if your team wins.
"If the represented team wins Super Bowl LIX, pre-orders will continue to be taken for this made-to-order item through [Feb. 24]. … You won't be charged unless you ordered the winning team item. The pre-order amount will show as "pending" on your payment account," Mattel says on the website for its Super Bowl collections.
That also means, of course, less waste for the company since there won't be a need to make a set of toys for the losing team.
