Can the Fisher Price Corn Popper roll back into toy lovers' hearts? Can Pez dispense a winning ticket?
The two toys — along with My Little Pony, Transformers and the pogo stick — have a second chance to make it into the National Toy Hall of Fame thanks to a decision by officials for the organization based at the Strong Museum of Play in Rochester, N.Y., to admit one of the "Forgotten Five."
All of the toys have made it multiple times to the finalist list for the Hall of Fame in the past but missed the final cut.
"They're like Susan Lucci was to the Emmy Awards, or Steve Tasker to the Pro Football Hall of Fame," said Chief Curator Christopher Bensch in a news release. "Now, one of these five will make the hall and, for the first time, it will be purely in the hands of the voting public."
The public can vote once a day for their favorite through Oct. 24. The winner will join the winners of this year's Toy Hall of Fame induction — from a list of finalists that includes the Little Tikes' Cozy Coupe — during a Nov. 9 event.
