You may run a successful company in the plastics industry. But is it so successful that you can hire superstar Rihanna to do her first full concert in eight years for a private wedding bash? Not the wedding itself, mind you. When Rihanna took the stage March 1, it was just for a pre-show party for Anant Ambani, the youngest son of Reliance Industries Ltd. owner Mukesh Ambani.
Mumbai-based Reliance's holdings include a petrochemicals business producing polyethylene, polypropylene, PVC and PET. Ambani is ranked as the 10th wealthiest man in the world. As PN's Frank Esposito noted previously: "If you're making plastic parts in India, you're buying from Reliance."
While we may not know how much Rihanna was paid — there are estimates of at least $5 million — I am wondering if Ambani's children are comparing their wedding entertainers.
In 2018, Beyoncé played at daughter Isha's wedding, while Coldplay headlined the 2019 wedding of older son Akash, Business Insider noted.
