July was an active month for resin pricing, with buyers of most major commodity resins seeing increases. Will that trend continue in August and September?
In the Aug. 20 Polymer Points editorial livestream, Frank Esposito explained why polyethylene and polypropylene prices were both up 5 cents per pound in July despite lackluster domestic demand. (Recording below).
Esposito took a detailed look at supply, demand and feedstock trends this summer and talked about how they may impact pricing this month and going forward.
He also talked about how a Canadian rail strike could impact resin markets; and he reviewed recent changes in recycled resin pricing; and he explained why resin pricing indexes haven’t been on the same page in recent months.
Finally, Esposito and Don Loepp discussed the White House policy shift on the United Nations plastics treaty and how that could impact global markets for virgin, recycled and bio-based resins.
The next Polymer Points Live is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 17.
