Regarding your story "As lawmakers debate plastic waste, ACC floats California takeout container fee," I find it interesting that the consumer is to take on the entire fee the American Chemistry Council suggests be placed on plastic containers. What about the plastics manufacturers themselves stepping up to share the cost of a problem they have profited from while they have been silent?
In addition, ACC should be calling for used plastics to be made source material for container production, in particular a timeline for a steady increase in the percentage of used material to be feedstock would be appreciated.
As it stands, this is a public relations gimmick that puts the responsibility for change entirely on the public while asking nothing of the industry.
