Materials firm Color Master Inc. is expanding and adding new machinery at its two sites in Indiana.
Butler, Ind.-based CMI is seeing growth in its main product lines, President Kyle Skaggs said in an Oct. 10 phone interview. The firm's largest end markets are building and construction, appliance and consumer packaging.
The expansions will take place in Butler — where CMI makes color and additive concentrates based on commodity and engineering resins — and in nearby Kendallville, Ind., where the 31-year-old firm does PVC compounding.
In Butler, CMI is adding 18,00 square feet of manufacturing and warehouse and 2,300 square feet of offices to an 80,000 square-foot facility. The firm also is installing two new continuous mixers and one twin-screw extrusion line there, as well as remodeling its lab.
In Kendallville, CMI is installing a new high-intensity mixer and a twin-screw line at a 100,000 square-foot manufacturing and warehouse site.
Skaggs said the expansions will allow CMI to add 10-15 jobs in Butler and at least four in Kendallville. The firm currently employs 120.
Recently, CMI has seen growth in specialty compounds containing graphite, carbon fiber and similar additives, Skaggs added.
