Conventus Polymers LLC has been named an authorized distributor of high-performance engineering thermoplastic resins in the U.S., Canada and Mexico for materials firm Sabic.
In the role, Conventus of Parsippany, N.J., will provide Sabic customers with products from the firm's specialties business, including Ultem-brand polyetherimide resins and LNP-brand engineering resin compounds. Conventus also will provide related services such as application development and customer support.
In a news release, officials said that Conventus offers technical expertise and strong relationships with key OEMs in water management, energy, electrical and electronics, health care and other industries.
"Welcoming Conventus Polymers to the Sabic team demonstrates our ongoing commitment to expanding our ability to deliver high-performance solutions and an outstanding customer experience," Sabic Customer Fulfillment Director Darpan Parikh said.
Conventus President John Jorgensen added that his firm and Sabic "share a similar vision for specialty plastics and bring complementary expertise and perspective to the table." Sabic's high-heat materials "add a new dimension to our portfolio and support our goal of further expanding in target markets," he said.
Conventus joins Nexeo Solutions, Chase Plastic Services and Amco Polymers as authorized distributors of Sabic's specialty materials.
Conventus employs around 20 in field sales and distributes materials from approximately 25 local warehouses throughout the U.S. Earlier this year, the firm took the top spot in Plastics News' 2022 Best Places to Work list in the supplier category.
Sabic is a global supplier of commodity and engineering resins that employs 31,000. The firm is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with U.S. headquarters in Houston. In 2021, Sabic posted sales of almost $47 billion.
