Mexico City — Swedish compounder Polykemi AB opened a sales subsidiary in Mexico March 1, describing the move as a "natural step in the globalization of the company."
Called Polykemi México, the subsidiary is headquartered in Mexico City. It will supply customers in North and South America with compounds based on both virgin and recycled plastic raw materials produced at a new $19 million plant in Gastonia, N.C.
"Now that our new production facility in the U.S. is operational, it is a natural step in the globalization of the company to also establish a new Polykemi subsidiary with a sales office in Mexico," said Mattias Persson, Polykemi AB's sales manager, in a news release.
He said the company had supplied customers in Mexico with products from its production facility in Ystad, Sweden, "and from our partners in the USA," for many years.
Polykemi named Fernando González, whom it describes as a "former partner," to manage the new sales office.
