Friedrichshafen, Germany — At Nexeo Plastics, the MyNexeo e-commerce program has been a hit with customers.
Nexeo — a materials supplier based in The Woodlands, Texas — already has sold 100 million pounds of material through the program so far in 2024, Victoria Ballesta Ferrer said Oct. 17 at Fakuma 2024.
MyNexeo "has been adopted very quickly," she added. "It touches different points of the customer experience. Buyers are becoming more digitally savvy and more comfortable with technology."
Nexeo launched MyNexeo in 2022. The program allows customers to shop more than 15,000 materials in the firm's catalog and find their most commonly used products. They also can access past order history, instant pricing visibility, real-time order status and estimated delivery dates. Technical support also is available.
Earlier this year, Nexeo added MyNexeo Green, a program that allows customers to calculate greenhouse gas impacts and other sustainability factors. MyNexeo Green also is proving popular with customers, Ballesta Ferrer said.
"Sustainability is an increasing trend that's entering into new markets," she added. MyNexeo Green "gives customers a lot of information, but we've made it easy to understand a wide portfolio."
In June, industry veteran Kurt Schuering became Nexeo's president and CEO, replacing the retired Paul Tayler. Schuering has almost 30 years of plastics experience, including four years as president of PolyOne Distribution, which now operates as Formerra.
In late 2023, Nexeo was named the preferred distributor of Americhem Inc.'s engineered compounds in North America. The partnership covers the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico. Americhem materials covered by the agreement include the firm's ColorFast, ColorRx, InColor, InElec, InLube and InStruc product lines.
Nexeo distributes resins and compounds in North America, Europe and Asia for more than 30 suppliers. The firm has annual sales estimated at around $2 billion.
