Materials firm Penn Color Inc. opened its Singapore Technology Center on Jan. 10.
In a news release, officials with Penn Color in Hatfield, Pa., said that the facility will allow the firm to be closer to its Asia-Pacific customers and to better meet their needs. The center "will be a place for brands, designers, converters, materials and equipment suppliers to come together and harness their collective creative power to conceive, develop and validate new products," they added.
"Thanks to our world-class capabilities and enabling technologies, new product development teams will condense weeks of development into days, and production-ready products will be available faster than ever before," President and CEO Kevin Putman Jr. said.
Penn Color has invested $3 million in the 6,500-square-foot center. The site will create 10 jobs in its first two years of operation.
The center was designed with input from thousands of hours spent with customers in Penn Color's existing tech centers in the U.S. and Europe, officials said, resulting in "a bright, open space that is both welcoming and inspiring."
Asia-Pacific Commercial Director Phil Riccardi added that "many well-known global companies have chosen to locate their Asia-Pacific facilities in Singapore, drawn by the city-state's pro-business environment and highly skilled workforce."
The lab includes design, prototyping and sampling.
"Our technology centers in the U.S., the Netherlands and now in Singapore give our customers an edge in the marketplace and help us take bold steps forward, especially in packaging and consumer goods applications," Nicolas Rivollet, marketing vice president, said.
Penn Color ranks as one of North America's 30 largest makers of compounds and concentrates. The firm's products include a wide range of color and additive concentrates.
