Medical device contract manufacturer Biomerics LLC has expanded its Athens, Texas, facility by 24,000 square feet to meet demand in the single-use endoscopy market.
The investment includes 8,500 square feet of production space and an expansion of Biomerics' center of excellence for balloons & balloon catheters with a 4,900-square-foot engineering laboratory and a CNC-machining tool shop, an April 14 news release said.
"I'm thrilled to see our vertical integration on full display in one building," Chris Richardson, president of Biomerics Interventional Advanced Catheter, said in the release. "The expansion will fuel our growth with best-in-class speed-to-market capabilities."
The expansion increases the company's Athens campus to approximately 100,000 square feet.
It includes an exterior refresh, added engineering and lab space, manufacturing space and an employee break room.
The Biomerics balloons and interventional advanced catheter business operates in Athens, Texas; Brooklyn Park, Minn.; and Cartago, Costa Rica.
"This investment says a lot about the performance of this team, our markets and our commitment to this community," CEO Travis Sessions said.
Salt Lake City-based Biomerics supplies medical device OEMs through eight locations in the United States, Ireland and Costa Rica. It provides engineering design and development, technology transfer and contract manufacturing services including sterilization and packaging for medical device components, sub-assemblies and finished medical devices.
