A pair of flexible plastics packaging companies are coming together in Northeast Ohio.
Polymer Packaging Inc. is acquiring William-Allen Co. in a deal involving two firms based in North Canton.
William-Allen provides design, production, quality control, inventory management, warehousing and distribution services at a 33,000-square-foot location.
"Acquiring the William-Allen Co. is a good match founded on the same core values of Polymer Packaging. Combining resources will offer added value to our current and future customers," Polymer Packaging CEO Larry Lanham said in a statement.
"This acquisition gives us the ability to broaden our product offerings in the food packaging space, while expanding our office, manufacturing and distribution capabilities," he said. "The William-Allen Co. has been offering flexible packaging solutions for the baking, frozen foods and snack industries since 1973."
Polymer Packaging, meanwhile, was founded in 1986 and provides flexible packaging for the food, medical, pharmaceutical, automotive and industrial markets.
William-Allen began as Diversified Packaging with a 2,000-square-foot warehouse in Alliance, Ohio. By 1980, the company had moved into a 10,000-square-foot building with three employees. It was in 1997 that the company build a 30,000-square-foot warehouse with 3,000 square feet of office space for seven employees. There are currently 14 employees, according to the company's website.
Polymer Packaging and William-Allen are located less then three miles from one another. Polymer Packaging also has a manufacturing location in Allendale, Mich., that operates under the Polymer Protective Packaging name.
