Pexco LLC has made its second acquisition of the month, this time acquiring injection molder Performance Plastics Ltd. of Cincinnati.
Performance is marking its 40th year in business. The firm makes high-performance, tight-tolerance components for applications in aerospace, defense, medical and life science and precision industrial.
Officials said Performance is known for working with fluoropolymers, as well as with Torlon-brand polyether etherketone (PEEK) and Ultem-brand polyetherimide resins.
Performance "has an outstanding reputation in the market and is recognized as a leader in the production of thermoplastic parts that are geometrically complex and with tight tolerances," Pexco CEO Sam Patel said in a news release.
"There are few manufacturers who can help customers meet these standards," he added. Performance's "high-performance polymer knowledge and expertise are powerful differentiators."
Performance Chief Operating Officer Chris Lawson added that his firm's focus on engineering quality and strong work ethic are "a great cultural fit" with Pexco.
"We look forward to collaborating with the fluoropolymer and other high performance polymer experts under the Pexco umbrella," he added.
Earlier in September, Johns Creek, Ga.-based Pexco acquired fluoropolymer products maker Enflo LLC of Bristol, Conn. Enflo makes a wide range of fluoropolymer shapes. including molded cylinders/tubes and sheets, tape and extruded rods and tubing.
With Performance, Pexco now has made 11 acquisitions since 2018. In March, Pexco was reacquired by Odyssey Investment Partners LLC of Atlanta, which had owned Pexco from 2012-17.
With estimated sales of $290 million, Pexco is the 20th-largest pipe, profile and tubing producer in North America, according to Plastics News data.
