TriMas Corp. has wrapped up a deal to buy Aarts Packaging BV, an injection molder in Waalwijk, Netherlands.
Aarts' product line includes caps and closures for high-end cosmetics and fragrances; scoops, jars and capsules for food-related products; and pharmaceutical dosing containers and jars.
The Dutch company was privately owned. TriMas said in a Feb. 1 news release it will retain Managing Director Rob Geurtz in that position. Aarts Packaging generated about 23 million euros ($25 million) in sales in fiscal year 2022, according to TriMas.
Aarts becomes part of TriMas Packaging, which includes recent acquisitions Intertech Plastics LLC (2002) of Denver and Omega Plastics Inc. (2001) in Clinton Township, Mich., as well as Rapak LLC, Rieke Corp., Affaba & Ferrari srl and Taplast SpA.
Aarts has one injection molding plant, in Waalwijk. TriMas said in an email the facility is larger than 100,000 square feet and has more than 40 presses, nearly all equipped with five- and six-axis Kawasaki robots.
Its finishing capabilities, including decorative metalization, allow it to produce highly customized packaging. Aarts employs about 85 at the site.
TriMas, based in Bloomfield Hills, Mich., is publicly traded on Nasdaq. In addition to packaging, the company makes products for the aerospace, consumer products and industrial markets. It has about 3,500 employees in 13 countries.
TriMas reported 2021 sales of $857.1 million, an increase of 11.3 percent over the year before, and profit of $57.3 million, compared to a net loss of $79.8 million in 2020. The company is expected to announce its 2022 financial results Feb. 23.
