Tyler, Texas-based Britec Solutions Inc. introduced a new liquid carrier system for injection molding, blow molding and extrusion applications.
The technology, called the Qd2- Liquid Carrier System, improves particle distribution in the polymer, which eliminates hard settling of pigments and processing concerns, such as screw slippage, according to a Britec news release.
Britec has been manufacturing thermoplastic colorants and additives, offering color and additive compounding, and developing liquid color systems for more than 30 years.
The company says testing and case studies show when used in polypropylene, the Qd2- Liquid Carrier System creates nucleation that reduces cycle time reduction. A Texas customer molding PP closures cut cycle time by 5 percent and achieved overall cost savings of 12 percent, the release says.
An Ohio injection molder of five-gallon polyethylene pails and lids realized a five-second reduction in cycle time, reduced part warpage and quicker color change with the Qd2- Liquid Carrier System, the release also says.
And, an injection molding customer in North Carolina, reduced their let down ratio from 1.65 percent to 0.8 percent and improved color dispersion and physical properties, the release says.
