Conair Group showed its new generation of Carousel Plus desiccant dryers — the D Series portable dryers and dX Series mobile drying/conveying systems at the Plastimagen 2019 in Mexico City — their first showing in Mexico.
The auxiliary equipment manufacturer also introduced its new line of Viper granulators to the Mexican market.
The new dryers represent Conair’s top-to-bottom redesign of its Carousel Plus desiccant dryers (the former W Series and MDCW Series). They are sized in throughputs from 15 to 400 pounds an hour. The D and dX Series dryers combine a new control interface with high-reliability components that maximize performance, uptime and energy efficiency.
These are housed in a smaller-footprint chassis that gives more direct access to key components and service items like filters.
The D and dX dryers also use new air-to-air aftercooling, which is required to reduce the temperature of the return air from the drying hopper, improving the moisture absorption efficiency of the desiccant. Customers can now specify dryers equipped with either an optional air-to-water aftercooler or the new air-to-air aftercooler.
The new dryers use the new DC-C programmable electronic controller, aimed specifically for drying applications. Conair developed the software to maximize flexibility in adapting to current and future customer application needs.
The Viper granulators come with standard features that include improved sound insulation, hardened and water-cooled cutting chambers on most models and bigger screens that allow increased throughput compared to Conair’s previous offerings. The product line is comprised of 14 different models and is available on configurations for injection molding, blow molding and extrusion of pipe and profile, and film and sheet.
Viper granulators are available with rotor diameters of 6, 8, 12, 17, 23, 32 and 35 inches, and maximum throughputs from 80 pounds to 13,200 pounds an hour.
Conair is based in Cranberry Township, Pa.
