Extrupet Group (Pty) Ltd., the post-consumer PET recycling operation in South Africa, has ordered a second Starlinger PET recycling line for its PhoenixPET plant in Wadeville, east of Johannesburg.
The factory converts more than 2.5 million PET bottles per day into flakes and pellets.
When Extrupet set up the recycling plant in 2014, the company added a Starlinger recoSTAR PET recycling line that meets food safety requirements. The new line is a major boost in recycling capacity, since it can achieve a throughput of more than 4,000 pounds an hour and will be equipped a larger solid-state polycondensation unit to further increase the cleaning efficiency and a new quality benchmark for recycled PET, according to the Vienna -based Starlinger & Co. GmbH.
