Italy-based hot runner manufacturer HRSflow GmbH says its HRScool for hot runner systems dispenses with the water cooling of the corresponding actuator.
The key is the temperature management system, in which insulating supporting columns with a minimal contact surface reduce the input of heat from the hot runner to the cylinder housing, the company said. This, in turn is provided with a cover with a large, flat surface made of thermally conductive material. An integrated telescoping design enables maximum heat dissipation from the cylinder to the cold platen.
Using HRScool, there is no longer any need for elements such as cooling lines, channels and connections usually necessary for active cooling. That means reduced assembly and handling costs, according to the company, a division of mold maker Inglass SpA.
