North Tonawanda, N.Y. — Shannon Global Energy Solutions, a maker of reusable insulation, developed a thermal blanket for plastics processors that it says improves safety and energy efficiency.
The new Insultech brand blanket was designed to protect workers from high temperatures and can be used on any style extruder as well as extruder barrels, heads, and injection and blow molding equipment.
The blanket, model MT850SSi, creates a thermal barrier that doubles as a safety feature for employees while achieving a thermal capacity of 850° F (455° C), according to a company news release.
The product is suitable for a range of production conditions and meets ASTM International standards, Shannon President and CEO Frank Kovacs said in the release.
"For every component we cover, we create exact blanket designs in line with a specification that will accommodate the required operating conditions, no matter how extreme," Kovacs said. "We've tested our MT850SSi blanket, and all the products we design and manufacture, under ASTM standards, so we can assure customers our design delivers safety and saves energy."
Founded in 1988, Shannon engineers and manufactures insulation for energy conservation, thermal efficiency, noise reduction and safety.
