Sidel Group’s BoostPRIME, an alternative for hot-filled beverages in PET bottles, won the Marking Prospective Award, held at the Food & Beverage Innovation Forum in Hangzhou, China, in the in-market category for the commercial, marketing and functional benefits it offers.
BoostPRIME mainly addresses the single-serve market of juice, nectaer, soft drinks, isotonics and tea. The inner bottle pressure stems from the bade inversion reduces the rock of deformation, according to Sidel.
“Through this packaging solution, manufacturers, co-packers and brand owners are able to bottle their products with freedom of shape and design, allowing for greater marketing and product differentiation thanks to the removal of the technical constraints presented by the bottle vacuum,” said Scarlet Chen, vice president of beverages equipment sales and services for Greater China. “The smoother labelling surface with no vacuum panel clearly expands the branding opportunities.”
Judges also appreciated BoostPRIME for its significant PET resin savings. Sidel said it makes it possible to reduce bottle weight by 30 percent compared to traditional heat-resistant bottles. The technology allows manufacturers to use less-expensive roll-fed labels instead of sleeve labels, according to Sidel.
