Mattress maker and retailer 3Z Brands is adding to its manufacturing footprint by buying competitor Southerland Sleep.
Formerly known as Brooklyn Bedding, 3Z is based in Phoenix and has a range of consumer brands including Brooklyn Bedding, Helix Sleep, Leesa, Bear and Birch. Southerland, based in Nashville, has been in business since the 1890s. Both companies’ operations include urethane foam production.
Southerland will add manufacturing in Nashville; Phoenix; Tualatin, Ore.; and Oklahoma City.
In a news release, 3Z said it is committed to “significant capital investment in the facilities,” and the companies said Southerland and its customers will be able to average 3Z’s vertically-integrated approach to foam, coils and sewing.
