Albis UK has unveiled a plan to cease its compounding activities at its United Kingdom facility in Knutsford, England, and transfer production to the group’s manufacturing sites in Germany.
The proposed transfer is set for the first quarter of 2020 and will see the migration of the production of Albis compounds Altech and Alcom from the U.K. to plants in Hamburg, Zülpich and Obernburg.
Albis said it would remain committed to the U.K. market, and would continue to build and develop its sales and distribution activities from the Knutsford site.
The Knutsford site is the smallest of Albis’ compounding facilities. The German distributor and compounder also has manufacturing sites in the U.S. and China.
“In times of increasing competitive pressure this move is aimed at improving efficiency and ensuring that Albis continues to offer its customers products competitively throughout Europe,” Ian Mills, head of Albis compounding business, said in an Oct. 30 statement.
Albis, he said, would work hard to make the transfer “as seamless as possible.”
The proposal is subject to a consultation, which is currently underway with affected employees.
