The CEO of one of the world's largest packaging makers, Amcor plc, is retiring within the month due to health reasons.
Ron Delia told Amcor's board he will leave as both CEO and a board member on April 15, the company said.
Peter Konieczny, currently chief commercial officer, will become interim CEO, and Delia will provide advice until Sept. 30 as part of the transition.
"Under Ron's leadership, Amcor has added billions of dollars in annual revenues, successfully completed the transformational Bemis acquisition, strengthened its global leadership positions in key markets and consistently led the industry by embedding sustainability into its operating and strategic agenda," Chairman Graeme Liebelt said in a statement.
Delia has been with Amcor for 18 years, including nine as CEO.
"We have created a stronger global packaging leader and laid the foundations for an exciting future as the business has substantial potential and is building near-term momentum. I have complete confidence in the strength and capabilities of Amcor's leadership team, and Peter will do an outstanding job as interim CEO during the transition period," Delia said in the statement.
