Nexeo Plastics has been named the preferred distributor of Americhem Inc.'s engineered compounds in North America.
The partnership, which took effect Nov. 1, covers the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico. In a news release, officials with Americhem in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, said "this strategic move underscores Americhem's commitment to delivering top-tier engineered compounds, polymer solutions and service to customers throughout North America."
The collaboration "marks a significant milestone in Americhem's journey," CEO John Richard said. "Combining our strengths and expertise in compounding with Nexeo's distribution platform allows us to drive innovation and create unparalleled value for our customers."
Paul Tayler, CEO of Nexeo, based in The Woodlands, Texas, added that the partnership "aligns with our mission to provide exceptional value to our customers by offering the highest quality materials and expertise to meet application challenges."
Americhem materials covered by the agreement include the firm's ColorFast, ColorRx, InColor, InElec, InLube and InStruc product lines. Officials said these materials can offer structural integrity, lubricity, electrostatic dissipation, flame retardancy, critical color and other attributes.
Americhem is one of North America's 30 largest compounders and concentrate makers. Earlier this year, the firm completed an expansion of its compounding site in Ribe, Denmark. The 15,000-square-foot expansion includes a clean compounding facility dedicated to medical-grade materials.
Nexeo distributes resins and compounds in North America, Europe and Asia for more than 30 suppliers. The firm has annual sales estimated at around $2 billion. Earlier this year, Nexeo began distribution of Teknor Apex Co.'s Sarlink and Monprene brand thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs) in Europe.
