Materials maker Ampacet Corp. has doubled production capacity for masterbatch color concentrates at its plant in Dudelange, Luxembourg.
Tarrytown, N.Y.-based Ampacet has invested 40 million euros ($45.1 million) in a new facility in Dudelange that houses the firm's European headquarters, its Color Center of Excellence and a state-of-the-art research and development lab.
Officials said in a news release that the investment in new production lines will reduce lead times and offer additional product delivery flexibility.
"The European strategy to improve customer satisfaction is bearing fruit," Europe Managing Director Marcello Bergamo said in the release. "Our five-year plan has been successfully completed and we are now starting the next one.
"This color investment is part of the overall strategy to better respond to customers' needs with respect to both quality and service," he added.
The expansion will create 25 new jobs, increasing Ampacet's head count in Dudelange to almost 240. The firm employs more than 2,000 worldwide.
Ampacet previously added new production lines in Dudelange in 2017 and 2019. Earlier this year, the firm added production of plastic additives at its plant in Tver, Russia. Ampacet also opened a new additive production line in Messancy, Belgium, in 2018.
Ampacet is one of North America's 30 largest compounders and concentrate makers. The firm operates 25 manufacturing sites worldwide and has annual sales of more than $1 billion.
