Materials maker Ampacet Corp. is closing its DeRidder, La. production plant in early 2024, permanently laying off 65 employees.
Ampacet is "moving production to other North American facilities," a spokesperson for the Tarrytown, NY.-based company told Plastics News in an emailed statement.
The layoffs will begin Aug. 21, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) letter submitted to the Louisiana Department of Labor.
"As part of Ampacet's commitment to product excellence and sustainability, we are continually evaluating our operations and production efficiencies," the statement said.
Ampacet is one of North America's 30 largest compounders and concentrate makers.
