Renewal by Andersen LLC, the window replacement division of Bayport, Minn.-based Andersen Corp., will invest $420 million in a new manufacturing plant in Locust Grove, Ga., that will create 900 new jobs.
Construction will begin this year with operations expected to start up in 2025.
The facility will manufacture windows made from Andersen's proprietary vinyl-wood fiber composite material called Fibrex, which it markets as being twice as strong as vinyl and with good insulating properties.
Forty percent of the raw material by weight is reclaimed wood fiber, and glass options make the windows Energy Star certified to advance sustainability efforts.
The company says its extrusion process enables custom shapes to match architectural styles.
With the new plant, Andersen is adding to its footprint in Georgia, where it has a distribution center in Douglasville and an office in Marietta.
Founded in 1903, privately held Andersen Corp. and its subsidiaries operate more than 20 window and door manufacturing and distribution facilities in North America to serve the new residential, light commercial, home improvement, and remodeling segments.
The company posted 2022 sales of $3.4 billion, according to Forbes.
Andersen launched the Renewal subsidiary in 1995 to manufacture, sell and install replacement windows and has been adding capacity in recent years.
Last year, Andersen undertook a second expansion at its Cottage Grove, Minn., campus for the product line and in 2020 it opened a 550,00-square foot manufacturing and distribution facility opened in Goodyear, Ariz.
The Arizona plant manufactures Fibrex products and improves service to the western U.S. The plant, which employs more than 400 people, also produces Andersen's all-aluminum windows and doors.
In Georgia, Andersen's first manufacturing facility in the Southeastern U.S. represents the largest economic development project in the history of Henry County and will bring opportunities to Locus Grove area residents and the company, according to Governor Brian Kemp.
"We are confident in our choice to make this significant investment in the state of Georgia," Andersen President and CEO Chris Galvin said.
The facility will initially support Renewal by Andersen with capacity to expand to support other product lines.
