Tempe, Ariz.-based medical supplier Aptyx has acquired Medical Murray's Charlotte, N.C., facility, which develops and produces catheter-based interventional products and transcatheter implants.
The new facility is a part of Aptyx's launch of its new business segment, Aptyx Interventional Systems.
"It's an exciting step for Aptyx as we are adding proven expertise in the interventional market with the acquisition of Medical Murray's Charlotte, N.C., facility," Gregg Tobin, president and CEO of Aptyx, told Plastics News in an emailed statement. "The acquisition will provide D&D center support and advanced manufacturing and bolster our expertise in catheter-based interventional products and transcatheter implants."
"The acquisition and focused expansion in interventional are a key part of our growth strategy and this is just the beginning as additional investments are on the horizon," Tobin said. "For medtech customers, it expands the resources available to drive innovation in the structural heart, aortic, peripheral vascular, neurovascular, gastroenterology, urology and other key interventional markets."
The company's polymer manufacturing capabilities now include injection, dip and blow molding, and extrusion and coating solutions. It will also provide manufacturing and assembly capabilities at the new N.C. facility.
It also expands the company's ISO Class 7 footprint and brings expertise in biotextiles such as ePTFE covering for stents and frames.
"It is a key element of our original blueprint and just the beginning of our evolution, with much more growth to follow," Tobin said in a Jan 21 news release.
