Arburg GmbH + Co. KG is continuing to make adjustments to its operations, with big retirements from its top executive ranks.
Gerhard Böhm, managing director of sales and after sales, will retire by the end of the year, the German machinery maker announced.
Renate Keinath, who had been responsible for human resource management as managing partner since 2005, has retired from operational business, but stayed at the company as a member of the newly created advisory board.
Jürgen Boll, managing director finance, controlling and IT retired at the end of 2023.
Earlier this month, the company announced it will start manufacturing injection molding machines outside of Germany for the first time, in response to a "changed global and market situation’ with ‘ever more dynamic requirements."
Arburg has not named Böhm's successor, but Steffen Kroner has been picked to oversee the finance, controlling, IT and human resources management division.
Another major change at Arburg at the end of 2023 was the death of Eugen Hehl, who was chairman of the management team for many years and responsible for global sales at Arburg. He played a key role in the company's global success.
Kroner will take on his full new role starting July 1. He will bring a younger perspective alongside extensive knowledge of business administration issues, the company said. He is currently commercial director of Liebherr Tower Crane Division, the world’s largest supplier of tower and mobile construction cranes.
Böhm, who has led Arburg's sales since 2016, will retire once he has helped his successor get familiarized with the role, at the latest by Oct. 1
At Arburg’s Technology Days press conference earlier this month, Böhm said he sees "no discernible signs of any clear and imminent improvement" to the current weak sales situation. Arburg’s 2023 sales decreased 11 percent year over year.
