The latest Allrounder injection molding machines by Lossburg, Germany-based Arburg GmbH (W3743) is part of its Golden Electric series — and it will get a U.S. debut at NPE2024.
The Allrounder 720 E Golden Electric has a clamping force of 310 tons (2,800 kN) and is especially suited for medical technology, mobility and technical injection molding.
The press, which extends the product range of the series, stands out for its precision, process stability, part quality and prompt availability, according to Arburg officials, who also describe it as "streamlined in terms of installation area and price" to sum up its main advantages.
The Allrounder 720 E Golden Electric will be the first machine that the 101-year-old, family-run company introduces on an international platform instead of Germany.
"[This] reflects the great importance of the American market for Arburg, our leading position in the USA and the expansion of our international business," Gerhard Böhm, managing director of sales and aftersales in Lossburg, said in a news release.
Arburg is extending its portfolio of electric machines to help customers meet challenges, such as increasing price pressure combined with rising costs for labor, energy and materials; shorter product life cycles; and ever faster product changeovers, added Technical Director Guido Frohnhaus.
"To make attractive investment costs and a quick return on investment possible, we rely on standardized equipment without compromising on quality and performance. Our new Golden Electric machine combines high precision with a streamlined design at a particularly attractive price," Frohnhaus said.
The machine builder's U.S. subsidiary, Arburg Inc., in Rocky Hill, Conn., handles sales, service and some engineering for North America. The subsidiary also has technical centers in Elgin, Ill., and Irvine, Calif.
Arburg Inc. President Martin Baumann said the Golden Electric is the right press at a time of fiscal prudence. He pointed to its standardized equipment as well as price-performance ratio in another news release.
Add in automation and digital products and Arburg officials say they have an economical and efficient solution for processing a wide range of plastic parts in cycle times of 15 seconds or more.
Typical areas of application include dimensionally stable housings for electromobility, thick-walled closures for household goods, precision components for medical technology and the construction, leisure and technical injection molding markets.
The new press has a smaller footprint -— just 6 feet wide — compared with other machines in its class, which can increase output per square foot.
At NPE2024, an electric Allrounder with a 24-cavity mold will produce polypropylene razor covers in a cycle time of about 8.5 seconds for handling by a Multilift V 30-brand linear robot.
Arburg will have 13 exhibits in all at NPE, with seven at its own stand. The company's other highlights include:
• A new in-mold labeling process designed for medical technology, which will be demonstrated for labeling centrifuge tubes at a production cell based around an electric Allrounder 520 A in a clean room design.
• An Allrounder Cube 1800 machine, which will be presented for the first time in the U.S. with an integrated six-axis robot to produce two-component medical closures.
• An Allrounder 520 hybrid premium press with a clamping force of 165 tons (1,500 kN) will be processing 100 percent recycled ABS from old washing machines, dryers and refrigerators into hobby model parts.
• An Allrounder More 2000 two-component press equipped with an integrated six-axis robot will produce a pair of glasses made of a thermoplastic and optical LSR as an example of the company's turnkey expertise.
• A hybrid Allrounder 920 Swill be the center of a turnkey system producing parts for a giveaway toolbox.
• A 750-3X high-temperature Freeformer will demonstrate industrial additive manufacturing. The 3D printer is particularly suitable for processing certified original material into components for medical technology and aerospace.
