Marinha Grande, Portugal — Plastics machinery manufacturer Arburg GmbH + Co. KG opened a new Arburg Technology Center in Marinha Grande, the heart of the tooling industry in Portugal.
Gerhard Boehm, managing director of sales, marked the opening of the new center, which is equipped with the latest Industry 4.0 and "smart" plastics processing features. The new ATC will function as a point of contact for "machine presentation and training courses," the company said. The approximately 3,660-square-foot showroom offers space for up to four Allrounders and a Freeformer for additive manufacturing. The building will be shared with Arburg's partner, Gura Group.
At the May 15 opening event, customers were given a glimpse of the wide range of possibilities available in the future at the new location, including high-end machine technology, pre- and after-sales service, and expertise.
Two hydraulic Golden Edition Allrounders are automated and equipped with four digital assistance packages each, to demonstrate molded part production with "smart machines." A Freeformer 200-3X showed how industrial additive manufacturing could be used to make functional parts.
"The new Arburg Technology Center in Portugal is a key milestone for our presence on the Iberian Peninsula," Boehm said in his welcome speech.
The Arburg team in Portugal consists of a salesperson and three experienced service technicians. Furthermore, the experts of the Spanish Arburg team are ready to serve the customers with application technology consulting and turnkey solutions.
