Medical supplier Arterex Medical Device Inc. has acquired Italy-based Phoenix srl, a medical device manufacturer, expanding the group's capacity in Europe.
"The acquisition of Phoenix is a strategic step for Arterex, allowing us to expand our medical device development and finished device assembly and packaging capabilities to Europe," Jeffery Goble, Arterex CEO said in a Jan. 21 news release.
"As the newest addition to the Arterex group of medical device contract manufacturing companies, Phoenix brings extensive expertise in the design, development and manufacture of disposable medical devices, along with assembly and packaging services in ISO 8 clean rooms," the release said.
"We are excited to join the Arterex group of companies," said Marco Bulgarelli, co-CEO at Phoenix. "Arterex is a trusted leader in the medical device manufacturing sector and together we will be well-positioned to find creative and effective solutions for our clients' needs."
The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Located near Modena, Italy, Phoenix develops, assembles and packages medical devices in just over 37,000 square feet of manufacturing space and four ISO 8 clean rooms.
In 2024, Arterex acquired Micromold Inc., and moved its associated equipment and operations from Riverside, Calif., to Arterex's facility in Tecate, Mexico.
Arterex is a medical device contract manufacturing platform created by private equity group Investindustrial from the combination of Kabo, Formula Plastics, Luc & Bel, ModenPlast, NextPhase, MicroMold and Phoenix.
Arterex has nine manufacturing facilities and 1,250 employees in the U.S., Mexico, Italy, and Egypt. It provides services including design, development, engineering, compounding, extrusion, injection molding, tooling and mold builds, and advanced assembly and packaging capabilities for medical and health care OEMs primarily in the United States and Europe.
